> Cold Fusion also requires that you learn SQL.
hi susan
whoa, this could easily be misunderstood
*every* web/database interface "requires" that you learn how to talk to the
database
the nice part is, if you learn sql, you have learned how to talk to 99% of
the databases out there
*of course* you have to know sql to use cold fusion against an sql
database -- same can be said for asp, etc.
however, as you point out, you don't *have* to access a database when
building a cold fusion site -- you could build a really dynamic site, e.g.
with mailto forms and static text and stuff, without ever accessing a
database (but why not use a database when it's so easy?)
> I haven't found any great tutorials on SQL
i have -- i posted my annotated bookmarks on the evolt site yesterday:
http://evolt.org/index.cfm?menu=8&cid=1618&catid=18
the best sql tutorial around is jim hoffman's (first one listed)
