I've been reading the XHTML 1.0 specification, and I think there are =
only a few differences between it and HTML 4.01:

1) blank tags (like br and hr) should be changed to <br /> and <hr />.  =
The slash indicates that there is no closing tag, and the space is so =
that HTML clients don't choke.
2) Tags must be nested.  <p>Hello there, <em>friends!</p></em> is =
illegal.
3) Tags and attributes are all lower case.  LI and li are different =
tags, and (surprise!) HTML 4.0 is currently all defined as lower case.
4) Attribute values must always be quoted, even if the value is numeric. =
 <td colspan=3D3> is illegal, as it should be <td colspan=3D"3">.
5) Attribute minimization is not supported in XML, which is to say, =
attributes MUST be in attribute=3D"value" format.  If you want your =
checkbox to be checked, you have to put in <input type=3D"checkbox" =
checked=3D"checked">
6) Script and style elements are now to be declared to be #PCDATA =
content.  An example:

<script>
	<![CDATA[
 	... unescaped script content ...
	]]>
</script>

Alternatively, you can use external style and script files.

I'm assuming that most of this can be handled without to much =
trouble...I figure that it isn't making staggered tag structures now, =
but until you find the update, doing a replacement for all the blank =
tags isn't too much of a burden, right?  :)

Good question.  I have been using EditPlus to code pages, but I'd like =
to
set up DW to code them to XHTML.  What's the secret to changing the =
actual
tag structures?  I've changed several periphreals, but missed this =
one...
