this is the most interesting part of your question
you had stated earlier that you "can do it fine in html" so it's probably
the fact that img border=0 is deprecated that bothers you
just because something passes validation doesn't mean every browser is
going to understand it, much less interpret it the way you expect
this is not to disparage the benefits of validation
adhering to w3c standards is a challenge worth accepting every time, every
page, because of what it teaches you about real life browsers, browsers in
the wild, as it were...
i've always just used img border=0 so i don't know if i would've tried
border-style none; border-width: 0px but that certainly looks like it
should do what you intended, in fact, looking at the css specs, i can't
think of any other way to do it...
