hi greg
actually, the logo is more or less in the centre of the page ;o)
i see no space in ie4 or nn6 -- you musta fixed it already
sometimes nn6 causes table layout problems if you have the wrong DTD
remember the thread from sathish yesterday? see
Does Netscape 6 Break Your Table Layouts?

i share your pain
been there, done that, got the t-shirt

there's a good tutorial here --
http://pagetutor.com/pagetutor/tables/index.html
also, try the w3c site, they have some good examples --
http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/struct/tables.html
in your case, you could actually break the table up into several stacked
tables -- one for each of your rows
that way you wouldn't have to use colspans (which can often cause layout
problems in themselves)
plus, stacked tables render faster
good luck
