I don't see how copying meta tags or description from 1996 is going to help
much in 2002. I also don't see how it would have helped them much in 1996 or
1998 unless the content on the page was exactly the same too. Just throwing
any meta tags on a site where the text doesn't match the tags isn't going to
get a good listing.

Despite the copyright registration it doesn't sound like there is a
compensable loss and it would probably be very difficult to prove he had any
compensable gain by it (even if it were considered relevant for the courts).
