Because the site is using a hidden frame (with no doc type declaration)
to make this work when you call the domain directly, pretty cheesy.

Why not just do this the right way via DNS? Point your domain to an
authoritative DNS and set up an A record to resolve to your servers IP
then use your webservers virtual host (or equivalent) directive if
necessary.
