CIW certification???

Hi,

I was just wonder whats everyones opinion on CIW. Do you think it
valid, do you think its worth getting, etc. 

One of my friends want to get into the industry. I told him to just
gain some good skills, and create a portfolio. He's thinking more
about spending $5,000 to take CIW courses.
