Also.... they confidantly stated that they are confidant that they could
bring the internet to stand still in 30 mins through bottle necking key
places on the net. there was a program on BBC2 about computer security
on OU and they had (a previous interview with l0pht?) an interview with
l0pht just after the first time they went to the white house or whatever
it is to tell them their security was bad. then they were asked if they
could take down the internet. after about 3 seconds of thoughts, they
repled.... yes. wouldnt be that hard, and it would take about 30 mins.
just bottle neck keay areas and slow the internet to a virtual halt....
or somthing very similar. 

there is a site that you can go to and it has a list of hacked sites.
also, the site has tutorials on how to hack and crack and usefull tools
to do the job. there are quite a few sites like it. i researched a
little into trojans and site security because i was getting hacked over
the internet through ICQ on my computer. took me a while to figure out
what was going on.... whatever. irrelivant.

This is an excellent example (IMHO) of what Hackers and Hacking
are all about. Or at least a yardstick Hackers "should be"
comparing themselves to.

The head guy has been involved in Senate meetings (by invitation)
to help the U.S. government get a handle on how-to tighten Server
security. They know their stuff and know that the majority of
Servers are (for various reasons) very vulnerable to break-ins.

This is why they are paid to hack into a system, as they are only
following the principle of problem solving and trouble-shooting,
code related problems.

These guys have built their boxes using off the shelf components
and have setup their own, very secure Server. They break-in (or
try to) on a regular basis, in order to update and expand their
knowledge. As they own everything, there is no harm done and
others can benefit from their experience.
