FTP vs. HTTP?

Hello all,

A company I'm working with wants to put some files (software
etc.) on their website for users to download.  They have the
option of setting up an FTP server for this purpose.

Question is - what are the pros and cons of using FTP vs. HTTP
for this purpose?
