If you're going to go manual, consider using Super NoteTab. With it, you can
load a page, strip out all the HTML tags, and then get a word count (using
its Tools/Text Statistics option). It used to be freeware (I'm still using
version 2.63e) and it's available at http://www.notetab.com/ntp.htm. I just
used it to get a word count for a page I needed to have translated. Although
I use Homesite for my general HTML work, every now and then I use NoteTab's
Text Statistics option to get word counts and even count the number of times
a word is used (such as in meta keyword tags).

Corporate website, I just can't add items like that without weeks of
approvals.  I think I'm gonna go ahead and copy and paste all the text into
