She's using a toy version of Windows... localhost does not always work by
default.  :-(  But if TCP/IP is installed, the loop back IP address
(127.*.*.*) should work.

Fix to that one is to rename the hosts.sam file in the Windows directory to
hosts (no file name extension).

Also make sure that the computer name is the same in all the places it can
be specified... I've seen numerous reports of grief when they are
different. There is also an issue that after dialing into an ISP (and
subsequently hanging up) references to the hostname might get confused
until a reboot. Not sure which versions of which Wolverine family members
have that annoyance.

Does it fail when providing full URLs, as in http://hostname/pathname/ ?
Don't forget that shorthand notations are browser-specific.. and history
suggests that Microsoft products tend to exhibit an allergy to following
pre-established industry conventions. Alas.
