Many ISP and Web hosting services offer free hosting to selected local
not-for-profit groups. 

I've knows of ISPs to give a Web site via the 5 MB or whatever dial-up-user
arrangement, and as a full-blown virtual-server account.

In addition, it is not unusual for a corporation with a serious Web
presence to do the same. This one tends to be more informal, and may need a
contact in the appropriate technology group in the corporation.

While interested in community good will, my experience is that they tend to
keep a low profile, wanting to avoid a flurry of high-maintenance me-too
requests.

Ask around, know what you want, and be realistic about what/how much
hand-holding might be asked of them. Good luck.

Your point about banner ads is very well taken... I've yet to see a free
hosting service that includes a "what's good for the goose is good for the
gander" clause in their agreement, that they agree that _all_ advertising
they apply will also adhere to the ~general audience~ content rules they
have in effect.

Further, I've seen one such service (AngelFire) attach an ad for a sexual
aids book from Amazon.Com that would be quite inappropriate for the age
group you indicate.
