online font displays

I'm in need of figuring out how to allow end-users 
to "try out" fonts from their web browser before 
choosing which one they're going to use. I know 
I've seen font sites where you can type in text and 
it will display it in the text string in the fonts 
for you to preview. Anyone know how this is done? 
If it were a small number of fonts I'd just .gif 
them up in some sample text, but there are over 
7,000 fonts involved, and I'd really rather not. ;)
