JavaScript and Cookies mmmm

Hey there Group,
    Question for you.. Is it possible to have a Cookie
store info from an included js file so that say a menu
would not have to load adn reload adn reload on every
page as long as the session is the same? 

  Example is we have a slick menu that uses
DHTML/CSS/JavaScript files all included. But each new
page loaded forces a reload of said menu. Because the
menu is so large it takes about 4 to 10 seconds to
load depending on processor and ram.. Way too many
Vars.
