mouseover problem

Hello List!

I have a couple of pages on different sites that use image mouseovers for
navigation. Text navigation is provided, as well. Until a week or so ago,
the mouseover effect was instantaneous. Then I started noticing that each
time one of the images in the button set was moused-over, there was a pause
of half a second or so, and action on the modem lights, indicating a
bandwidth hit on my site to fetch the image. What could I have done to be
getting this effect? I have changed none of the code on the pages, nor have
I altered any "obvious" settings in my browser, IE 5.5. Any ideas?
