problem with image in a table cell

Hello 

I've got a problem with a new home page I'm designing based on a print
design see:

Basically I want the red lozenge image to be flush left in the table cell
with the small black text on the bluey/purple background but the background
colour keeps bleeding to the left of the lozenge see Funding for US Study.

I'm sure this is something simple but for the life of me I can't work out
what.  

All help appreciated.
