I don't have much to contribute to this thread (re caching and hops 
and so on), but I do have a question on a related matter.

How do I get an accurate measure of 'time to load' ? (ignoring 
caching effects, which I can get around by a refresh I guess).
I'd like to experiment with different images on my site, test at various 
times of day etc etc.

By 'time to load' I mean the elapsed time between hitting the enter 
key after specifying a URL and having it fully appear on my screen.

Short of using a stopwatch, it is not obvious to me how this could be 
done. Any ideas?
