I forgot two things.
1) I joined www.scguild.org and I do get a fair amount of queries from that.
2) It took me a few months to land a web job. I was doing QA as a stop
gap. A company reviewed my resume & was kind enough to send me samples
of their contractors resumes. What an eye opening experience! I'd been
writing my resume as though I were looking for a permenant job. Sure I'd
gotten the focus correct on the programming, but I was listing accomplishments
as it relates to long term team building, and company rah rah stuff. I finally
realized that a consultant/contractor needs to focus on their toolkit and
flexibility
and a list of projects completed. Show where you came in, what you did to
get it done. If anyone wants to see mine, it's at
www.lodestone-sw.com/resume.html
Once I made those changes, more people started knocking. And as someone has
pointed out, once more people are knocking, it betters your chances of closing
a deal.
