Site Index/Table of Contents?

Hi all,

I'm taking a deep breath and considering PHP/MySQL, but does anyone have 
any ideas or urls that would include a site with a *table of Contents* type 
of page?

I was building it manually, but this site is way out of control, and one of 
the things I want to do is get a better handle on the *index* and start 
archiving more material.

I've been cruising the PHP and MySQL links posted here and I do have access 
to MySQL on Unix, but I'm still trying to get used to all this programming 
stuff.
