That is really interesting that a 10pt Helvetica, Arial would look the same
cross-platform since point is a print measurement.
Chip and others that have problems with fonts rendering just exactly as
intended are going to continue having these problems. I know I was
absolutely aghast at a site I did without specifying a type size -- I don't
know, maybe the guy's going blind? Perhaps that's why the fonts on his
machine were custom set to oh, about 24 point (I'm trying to learn to think
in pixels, but it's hard).
For those that do have trouble seeing 10, 12, 14 pixel type, they need to
be able to adjust the type size. I want my pages to look the way /I/
imagine them, but I guess they aren't going to do the client much good if
people can't /read/ the content.
In order to keep forcing myself to make pages that are truly user-friendly,
I've added the following links to my favorite bookmarks:
http://info.med.yale.edu/caim/manual/pages/font_face.html
I also really like this link:
http://developer.apple.com/internet/_fonts/fonts_gallery.html
I hope that helps somebody,
Tamara
