cgi question

Hi all,

I have a question regarding the following scenario.

I want to set up a page where a "submit" button kicks off a cgi program 
that keeps the original page still in view and opens up a new window on top 
of it.

So far all I have been able to do is to put a new window in place of the 
submitting one. I can't figure out how to have both windows.
