Hi all;
Leland Lemmert tells me I should seriously consider building on a Linux
platform. Geez, y'all, there's only so many hours in a day <g>! Okay, I
wanna do this right. Again, I'm a newbie: one big strike against me. In my
favor, math is my language of choice and I have a librarian's mind, so
although it's all new, it will quickly become 2nd nature.
I'm actually a marketer and a media man. I'm building a model for local
Internet media that I plan to take nationwide. Phase 1 of my bz. plan is
web site development, but we'll be instituting local chat on Mayday: weeks
away.
I don't have a controversial bone in my body <g>, so I really don't want to
keep stirring the bottom of the pot, but....
How difficult is Linux? Why should I go with Linux as opposed to Windows?
If I build on Windows initially, then decide on Linux, will I waste a lot
of time restructuring? If I go with Linux, which program is best?
To address the CF vs. ASP vs. PHP issue, all your arguments are good,
respected and appreciated. However, I have been won over by the PHP/MySQL
crowd.
Okay, round 2. Let's field some comments!
