I'm a newbie too, but it seems to me that if you're going to leave on a
trip, it's best you choose your destination ahead of time. In other words,
what do you want to *do*? Certain programs are better at certain things
than others are: none are optimized for jack-of-all-trades. Consider
choosing your direction- what you want to accomplish- *then* choose your
