Many thanks to all who responded to my plea for help.
In respect to the issue surrounding the HTML validation of my web page, it
was indeed the issue of the placement of the <font> with respect to the
<ol>. The <font> had to be placed inline with each <li> tag.
Another issue arose from my posting, I noticed. This was around the issue
of graphic file format. I had moved my images to PNG ( and as correctly id
by one responder as being in the Firework PNG format) to avoid all the
problems around the GIF license issue. Is this something I should be
concerned about?
It seems PNG is not ready for mainstream (apparently crashed a few browser
in a not so subtle manner), is this far comment?
I have been testing my pages in IE 5.0, Netscape 4.5/4.7, Opera 3.62, and Lynx.
I am interested in what the list has to say about this issue.
