Negative Floats

Hi;
I read in my *Cascading Style Sheets* by O'Reilly that it's possible to 
define a floating element with a negative margin. Unfortunately, the author 
doesn't give an example in code for illustration. So, how's it done? I'd 
like to float an image in a text block positioned with CSS such that the 
image extends beyond the right margin of the text block.
