Graying out a field on a form

Greetings List:

I am currently designing a form, in one of the form's fields I wish to show 
the price of the article being offered, to this end I have elected to use a 
"text box" for this purpose and populate it using a variable that
is reflective of the cost of the item being offered.

However, I don't want the price to be an editable field for obvious 
reasons, as such is there a way to have this information displayed such 
that the box in which the price is displayed is somehow "grayed" out 
rendering it uneditable.
