HomeSite is NOT a WYSIWYG editor and never has been. Allaire has added the=
=20
horrid "Design View" module in response to some users requests but it's an=
=20
OCX module made by Microsoft... use at your own risk. I've had it disabled=
=20
and out of the way from the day it was introduced. When I want WYSIWYG I=20
go to Dreamweaver.
HomeSite is (IMO and the opinions of many pros) the best code editor out=20
there bar none. Someone mentioned the fact that some free HomeSite clones=
=20
exist, namely 1st Page 2000. 1st Page lacks numerous features that make=20
HomeSite a great editor like right clicking on any tag to get a tag editor,=
=20
server mappings which enables developers to test their pages on a local=20
server like PWS in the HS built in browser or in IE or NS internally and=20
many more. Sometimes you get what you pay for and HomeSite packs a lot of=
=20
features for a very reasonable price. No other editor I've seen enable as=
=20
much customization as HomeSite through things like Action Scripting and=20
VTML with which users can create their own tag editors.
It should be mentioned that some users do experience problems=20
with versions 4.5 and 4.5.1 but they have been the most stable since=20
version 2.5a for me. YMMV. I myself wouldn't work with anything else.
