Nope, he's done that, but knows that someone who knows a bit
about web design is the way to go. He often tells me "you get what
you pay for", which is true. Hiring "your nephew Sam" for free will
probably show that you hired Sam for free.

I did notice (especially from Eric's take on it) that my message isn't
quite coming out the way I intended (communication is another
thing I need to bone up on :) ). The average person doesn't know
much about web design, that's why they hire us. Even if they make
demands that are impossible from a web designer's perspective (but
seem perfectly logical to a layman), we must try our best (like my
sending screenshots to show that all computers show pages
different.) And how we come across struggles on "designing blind"
to make it appear right on an unseen computer, trying to make it
appear right for everyone. (This is a frusting thing for me as a
designer personally, as I know that most computers won't see the
page the way it shows on my computer. We should try to access
our pages from as many comptuers as we can, I know I have my
comptuer here at home, at work, my friends', ...)

And, Eric did give a humble reminder of how joking comments may
come back to haunt you :) Personally, contrary to the fascetious
statement I made earlier, I don't feel right charging for work that the
customer isn't happy with even if, in the given example, it takes a
long while to get something the customer is happy with. But now
the message may start threading off into the dangerous territory of
pricing, so I won't make more mention of it here.
