404 failed question

Hi

I have just taken over some sites which were prepared using AOLpress.

There is a file called document.nvd, which appears to list all attributes of 
all pages on the site.

If it is not present then the 404 fail rate rockets.

However some of these files are very large 250K.

How can they be removed as Dreamweaver my preferred program does not create 
file so this nature?
