Evelyn,

I would suggest you static-sized table cells to keep the text and images
from going past the background.  Also, on my 21" monitor, the left-nav text
goes past the background to the right.

I would therefore make a table, putting the left-nav links in one column
(sized to be equal to or less than the width of the left side of the
background to the vertical bar), and the rest of the page in another
column(s).  I hope that made sense!

I am mildly amused.  I seems like oh so many years ago (about 7 or 8 I
think) that we started out with Netscape and that's the browser I learned on
when I learned what little I do know about HTML.

Well, Bill has made it so we just don't worry about other browsers 'cause we
have IE... until your ISP asks you, "I don't see anything on your first
page, is that intentional?"  What?!?  Hyperventilate a little and then
download Netscape... eeeeekkkkk!  Sigh.  IE is just way too forgiving.

So, instead of hassling you guys or the Basics list, let's validate to find
why Netscape doesn't see what my mind does -- that always worked before.
Yep, and so it is again.  Netscape is legalistic.  IE is too friendly.  To
make a long story short -- problem solved!

Except for one minor detail... IE and Netscape both have the problem of
anything less than a 17" screen and the picture and text go over the bar in
my background.  So, here is my question:  is there anything I can do to stop
this from happening other than redo my background and create just the bar
portion to be part of the middle table column?  Of course, then it won't run
from top to bottom as it does now -- I found that out the hard way -- unless
someone has a better answer for that part too?  Anyway, any suggestions?
