closing a popup window

Clicking on a "view specs" link in the site opens small popup window A that 
gives the user the choice of downloading a hi-res or a low-res image. When 
the user clicks on a link, popup B will open up in the correct size to 
display the image they have chosen. How do I make it also close out popup A 
at the same time?
