Order of loading photos

Hi all,
On some of my pages I show numerous photos. When someone is loading the 
page, most likely the photos further down on the page become loaded first 
and the photos at the top of the page later. Also the backgroung image 
happens to be loaded after the others.
Is there any chance to force the order of loading the pictures?
