Hi list,
I'm rather stumped, but not on a real problem.
My client is a real estate firm in N. California. The boss couldn't decide
on a good domain name ("all the good ones are taken") and so we did some
research and faxed a list of permutations and possibilities to choose from.
He chose five. Wants all five. Has two more reserved already from a
previous, independent, late-night brainstorm.
I know I can point all these domain names to the same page, but this raises
other questions:
1. Why have seven domain names for one page? Do search engines index each
domain name?
2. It makes sense to develop brand recognition by picking one domain to
advertise, and in that case we'd want a snazzy "SuperDooperURL.com" over
"your-name-here.com."
But should we use another domain name for link exchanges, to maximise
searchability...since "your-name-here.com" is indexed higher than
"YourNameHere.com" or "SuperDooperURL.com" when searching for a company by
name, for instance?
3. Is there another way to leverage a situation where multiple domain names
point to the same page?
Thanks in advance,
Collette.
