I apologise for this, but I really feel that I ought to respond on behalf of
FrontPage.

Paul - the only time that FrontPage will put unwanted code in the page is if
you tell it to.  I imagine that your client is not overly familiar with HTML
or FrontPage.  The only reason that it would write code like that is trying
to interpret what the user is telling it to do.  I expect that he/she has
tried to change the font in the page without highlighting text and so it
changes the font at that point only!

You cannot blame the tools if the workman does not fully understand how to
use them.

I train people to use FrontPage as well as Dreamweaver, HTML and other web
design/development courses.  In all the cases, the product and the code that
is produced is only as good as the user.  Dreamweaver does enter unwanted
code sometimes and FrontPage will write code to your specification - if you
know how to do it!
