You obviously want to control who gets this coupon and who doesn't. If
people will be able to set reminders for themselves, then you obviously
have some type of individual "accounts" set up, be it cookie based or
physical log in that validates against a database of usernames.
I would send a notice of the "special gift" to the customer via html/plain
text email (would be nice if you gave them their choice in their account
settings) notifying them that the next time they log into the account, they
will be able to print out a savings coupon. However you're controlling
individual accounts is how you control the displaying of the coupon.
