Just my .02:  I find Homesite helps me most when I'm error checking.  The
validator and the color-coded tags make it much easier to find that missing
" or ].  I haven't used much of the other 'whiz-bang' features of it though.

I agree that knowing how to code raw HTML is critical.  However, once you
know
how to do that, the productivity increase you can get out of using Homesite,
Arachnophilia, or (WYSIWYG) Dreamweaver will blow you away.

I would not mention FP in the same breath with any of these.

While it's true the more bells and whistles you have the more can go wrong,
clients' expectations drive design requirements, so in order to support more
complex web design, it makes sense to use a text editor with poweful tag
support
(HS or Arach) or a good design tool that gives you a concurrent view of your
HMTL (DW).
