hi, all...  i'm looking for the best way to do this, so hopefully y'all will
have some ideas.

on the intranet here at work, we have a "question of the week" thing where
we ask a question and give four choices and people get to guess.  kind of a
fun thing to get them coming to our page.  then we show how many people have
guessed each of the four choices by manually updating the page once or twice
a day.  kind of archaic, no?  

what i'd like to do is to automate this update thing.  i've tried using a
java applet but because of server problems, directory permission problems,
and browser security settings, i've run into some trouble with this option.
i'm willing to push forward and get this working with java, but am thinking
there has to be an easier way -- probably with a perl script or something
along those lines?  

so, long story short, how would you tackle this?  advise me, wise ones...
