you know what?  i got it totally wrong.

it's <iframe> and <ilayer>...  it has nothing to do with <frame> and
<frameset>...  what these tags do is, essentially, put a textarea on your
page that will read out of a different file.  oops!  

sorry for any confusion; i think it's best if i give up trying to advise on
this topic now.  :)

Are these tags related in any way to the <FRAMESET>, <FRAME> combination? If
yes, then I know about these and these aren't what I am looking for :-).

They *can* be made to work in both browsers (NN 4.x and IE5 onwards, I
think;
please correct me if I am wrong), but layers are a big pain in the... neck.
Again, that isn't what I am looking for... however, thank you... a lot...
