I wonder about Macs. I've experienced the odd characters showing up =
when I
open Mac-created docs on a PC, but do Macs NOT support ASCII numbering? =
If I
use &#0174; in my HTML instead of &reg;, will that not show properly on =
a
Mac? If I use the ASCII letter itself, =AE , does that show up as =
something
else on a Mac?

Any Mac users out there care to educate me? Thanks.

One of the problems with using characters like =E9 is that the ASCII =
code 0233
for =E9 may not be the same in a different font set. If a browser =
defaults to
a different set, it may look really interesting. I have a friend who =
writes
a newspaper article on his Mac and sends it out to a mailing list... =
all his
" characters come out as S on my machine. Makes it very interesting to =
read.
I would definitely recommend using escape codes for special characters.
Also, some web servers don't support them (apache doesn't like my =C6 =
very
much at all) in my experience.
