Non-breaking hyphen?

Is there such a thing in HTML? I searched around but could find no such
entity like &nbsp;. Is there a way with CSS or otherwise to wrap "this-that"
in a tag that would prevent it from breaking at the hyphen?

I tried "this&nbsp;-&nbsp;that" but it didn't work either. I also tried
substituting an en dash for the hyphen with no luck.
