I can't offer much info, but I do know that MS keep putting the latest
revision of IE out very regularily, and that means that there are many
undocumented version revisions of IE, many of which are flawed in some way
or another.  They are all the same major and minor version revision.  

E.G. I am currently running 5.50.4134.0600

In this office alone I have seen upwards of 6 different builds of ie 5.0 and
a couple of 5.5 and that is just in english versions.  I know I have updated
my version of 5.5 several times with updates and patches, which I am sure
affect the code handling.  I recently had an issue where one revision of IE
would handle certain file types wrong and the site only worked when I
changed the version to any other IE build on the machines concerned.
