You could have the login page spawn a new window for the user name and then
close it and return the logged in content to the initial window.  So the
login page is not physically in the browser history as it is a javascript
opened window.

Or I know it doesn't answer the question, but why don't you put a logout
function on the log in page, that automatically logs them out of the
application when the login page is loaded?
