try using winrar. www.winrar.com. it supports 9 (ish) compression formats.
and ive come accress 10. the one it doesnt seem to support is, i think it is
(i havnt used them for a bit) is .pak files on BeOS. rpm.... i think those
are linux. R(something) Programe Manager? not sure. been a while since i
used linux. but, winrar will be able to do the other file.
but, the files dont sound as though they are for use with windows because of
the file extensions. are you sure you need them? if you do, and you cant get
winrar to work, then find someone with linux/unix to uncomress them for you
or send them to me or, i can send you a link to a decompressor that might
work.

I'm currently downloading MySQL (I hope) and have files with these
extensions sitting in folder.  The problem is that my version of Winzip
doesn't like trg.gz files and I have never heard of src.rpm!  Somehow, I
don't think that's talking about revs per minute <grin>.

Any ideas about what I can use on a Win 98 system to open these?  Or do I
need to install a server and use a command line to extract the files?

(why can't people keep things simple?  An exe would be so much easier to
work with!!)
