its basicaly a thing about interlectual cration and things.

unless stated otherwise the work you do, or anyone else does is owned by the
company you work for. if you make something (interlectual copywrite -
poetry, story, graphics, painting (aslong as its creative)) then the creator
owns it, (unless you work for a company then they own it... but they usualy
sell it to the client... depends... anyways....). it also depends on the
country. if the person has stplen it, and it is exactly the same then they
have taken it. but, if its stored on a server in pakistan, you cant do much,
because as i understand it, pakistan would become involved and they have no
copywrite laws on alot of things (i know they dont with music, not sure
about graphics), or even russia. russia have a copywrite law that is flimsy
too - then you may no be able to do anything, unless you can prove its on
the persons computer or something. if the server is in europe or usa or any
other country that falls in the zone of the internation copywrite law then
you can do sometihng about it. probably. it all comes down to date.
technicly, you should slap it all onto disk, and post it toyourself with a
quick note saying you done it and sign it. and dont open it. that is the
easyest and quickest way to make cirtain no problems arise from dates of
when things were created and who done it first.

We get these type of "legal" questions over there all the 
time.  Unfortunately, most of us are not lawyers.  ;-)

One could check the archives for the multitude of posts in regards to 
Copyright issues before posting to any list:

I did a quick search for "copyright" and the archives served up 1,365 
messages for your reading pleasure.   Some from actual attorneys with 
resources and information that would sure to be of assistance.   When it 
comes to legalities only those qualified should be asked these type of 
questions.  Lists, unless they are run by lawyers, will only confuse and 
muddy up the issues which will always be unique to every situation.  IOW, 
go with the pros.  HTH!  ;-)
