i have no idea if this will resolve your problem, but i have noticed that
when absolutely positioning elements, i sometimes have to change the order
of either the style elements or the page source itself...  if i remember
correctly (and there's no guarantee that i do), i've had to change the order
of my <div>'s on pages to get everything to render properly.  very odd (even
z-index didn't solve it)...  so, if all else fails, you may play around with
that.

This I had actually corrected earlier without effect, but must have done it 
on a test page.

Hmmm... Did as you advised, it definitely changed the page, but not in a 
way I'd sign my name to! Messed it up in *all* browsers! Take a look:
