Would like an explanation of this too.  After all, mdb files are databases.
And Access is merely a tool to approach them.  It's the database that runs
on the server, not Access.  So okay, Access isn't the most wonderful or
powerful database access tool.  I mean... I know notepad doesn't have all
the functions of word and has rendering problems, but I still consider
notepad as a very healthy and helpful tool - wouldn't want to live without.

Access databases are the ideal solution for low-cost database server
deployment (or whatever you'd call it) and offer a great platform to learn
working with SQL (even if it's just JetSQL).
