Installing Programs

Hi,  can anyone help solve this puzzle.  Using JavaScript, is it possible to
install a program to a drive (network or local)?  I assume not as JS is
supposed to run in a protected sandbox, but is there a workaround?  

I have thought of a link to the file and then click 'save as' instead of run
but part two of the solution is that I need to keep the installation path so
that I can create a shortcut to the file in the "Favourites" list.
