While I can't speak to the capabilities of ASP and Perl in this regard
(though I would think they'd have the capability), Cold Fusion allows you
to schedule http requests. So bascially you can tell the server that you
need to download a specific file at a specific time of day. The file is
then saved locally. Where I work, we usually do this to download XML news
sources. Once the file is local, it would seem to me to be just a matter
of setting up a cron or at job to import the file into the database.
