Personally I take my own backups.  If I screw up (which is only 'if' - once
happened to someone I know and who I considered very acurate), I send a mail
to the host asking them for a restore of a file, the latest version before
xx.xx hours (screwup-hour).  I have done a test with my current host and
they had no problem: file restored 1.5 minutes later.

But personal backups are always safer.  I have written a backup tool (dump)
for my ECM modules, based on MySQL.  I can do a restore through the
interface too and download the dumps.  Easy, straightforward, point and
click,...  I make a habit of doing a backup before any major changes,
entries or before training a new person doing data-entry on both live and
production servers.
