cbrids, I'm not wanting to prove you wrong or anything but to my experience,
the directories with underscores keep track of what the 'publishing' feature
does in FrontPage.  It keeps track of what pages are uploaded when and if
you do a publish it will take these files to check out what needs uploading
again and what not.  So it's kind of an index so you can easily synchronise
entire sites.  At least, that's what I was told/read/indoctrinated/...
whichever you choose. ;)

I used FrontPage a long long time and that was mainly because I knew which
buttons NOT to push and because of the sync function.  Lovely.  No
headaches.  In my experience.  Just got lazy because of it actually. :)
